Default Organic gardening

Anyone here try organic gardening? It always seems like too much trouble but at the same time, it's nice not to have stuff with pesticides and herbicides on it.

I do organic farming once in a while because it really takes a lot of commitment in doing this. What alternatives do you use for pesticides or herbicides? I have used vinegar-water solution for killing the weeds. But I have a hard time coming up with a good alternative for pesticides.

We are going to try and go the organic route or at least use the least damaging pesticides possible. I have been trying to find ways to make it work...my daughter will be eating this stuff so I don't want to use a lot of chemicals or even have them around.

We only have a small space on the front yard, hence it's not so difficult to manage an organic garden there. Thanks Justin for the info about killing the weeds. Normally I will just clean them manually.

Thanks for the vinegar-water tip. I will have to try that this year. I don't know if this would be considered organic but I have heard that palmolive dish detergent and water will keep beetles off of your plants and keep mosquitos down.

How effective is the vinegar-water to get your garden rid of the weeds? I have to give it a try though. To make organic pesticides, you can use garlic, tomatoes and tobbaco. But now I cannot find the recipes to make the pesticides. I will let you know when I find them.

I've never used chemicals on the food that I've grown, and the results varied hugely as a result. My cauliflowers in particular suffered badly with cabbage white butterflies and I would have to pick the eggs or caterpillars off every day. Real pain, and huge amount of work.

I work with a farm and we use organic gardening. The woman who runs the farm picks off the bugs every day. She also planted with that approach in mind.
