I hate snakes! My daughter said she thinks she saw a snake in the garden. I don't want to go into the garden now to pick anything! If I go in I'm taking a big shovel so I can stab one if I see it. Ever had snakes in your garden?

Yes. We had some. It goes away when you make enough noise to agitate it.

Snakes are a good thing in the garden. They keep vermin out of it. Just make some noise before going in to pick anything and you and your daughter should be fine. They're more scared of you than you are of them.

I use a long stick or branch that I use to beat the ground or grasses in front of me as I walk. It makes enough noise to scare the snakes.

I always keep a shovel handy when I'm out in the yard. I have copperheads all over the place and I hate them. I can sympathize, Cheer13. Last year when I had a garden, I was stressed every time I had to go pick something.
