Default squirrels and birdfeeders

With the weather getting cooler, I'm planning to start filling the birdfeeders in another few weeks. Does anyone know of a way to discourage the squirrels from eating all the food before the birds have a chance to get it? Do they make special birdfeeders for this purpose?

They probably do have special bird feeders that advertise they are hard for squirrels to get into but I doubt it's possible. I encourage squirrels to get into mine so I'm not the best source here.

Yes, I'm sure too that there are some ways of keeping them out of the bird feeder, but I have to tell you, squirrels are very clever creatures and seem to find a way around things sometimes.
