Default What is coming on?

We have so many cucumbers right now I don't know what to do with them. We also have tons of squash! I love this time of year but I get sick of the same thing night after night for dinner.
How is your garden?

We weren't able to get one in this year. It stayed too wet until it was too late to put one in. If you have tons of cucumbers, put up pickles. We use tons of pickles during the winter so I ususally try to put up dill, bread and butter, ice pickles etc.

I haven't got a garden this year - congratulations on your crop! Pickling is a great idea; you could also consider selling or trading some of your yield with friends, family, or coworkers that also have vegetable gardens.

The heat here has just about killed anything that might grow. I still have the plants but they are not blooming. They should start again in September though. I wish I had your problem though. I would be learning how to make pickles.

We have so many tomatoes, squash, peppers, corn, cucumbers, and onions! We can't keep up with them all. We are canning this and freezing that and eating the same thing every night.

We had the same problem this year as Calliope - too wet. The garden area of the property stayed flooded until it was too late to plant anything. I was really disappointed about that because I usually have a pretty big garden and I love having all the fresh vegetables on hand.

I've heard others saying what a great year their gardens are having. I'd say prepare it so you can give it away as gifts. Why wait for the winter holidays? Maybe someone who doesn't have a garden would enjoy some fresh veggies.
